Former Minister Bikram Pandey Sued in Contract Manipulation Case

Kathmandu. A lawsuit has been filed in court against former minister Bikram Pandey, who was arrested on charges of unauthorized access to the website of the Public Procurement Monitoring Office, bolpatra.com.np, and manipulating contract details. A total of 22 people, including Pandey, have been named as defendants in the lawsuit filed at the Kathmandu District Court.

Police investigation findings indicate that Pandey's company revised the bid for the contract of the Bakaiya River bridge on the Mahendra Highway. However, Pandey claims that he bid around 67 crore for the contract and that his company did not submit any documents to revise the bid. In his statement to investigation officers and government lawyers, Pandey stated, 'As far as I remember, no bid was revised by giving any discount from the company's side for this contract, nor was this contract awarded to my company.'

He stated that the contract would not be awarded simply by reducing the rate. Pandey expressed ignorance about his name being linked to the contract, which he believes is awarded through a scientific process. He claimed in his statement that he was unaware of the issue of accessing the PPMO website from Kalika Construction's side.

Pandey suggested that some criminal group might have defamed his company's name.
