Locals Protest Eviction from Public Land in Dhanusha

Janakpurdham. After Dhanusha's Chhirsarnath Municipality issued a notice to remove unorganized settlements on public and government land, the affected locals have taken to protest.

The protestors blocked the Janakpur-Dhalkebar road section from 7 AM to 8 AM on Friday, demonstrating their opposition. The road blockade affected vehicle movement, according to Rajaram Yadav, chief of the Area Police Office, Mahendranagar.

Chhirsarnath Municipality had issued a notice last Monday, urging the removal of houses and other structures built on encroached, unorganized, and risky government and public land within wards 1 to 10 of the municipality within seven days, in accordance with the letter from the Ministry of Home Affairs dated Baishakh 16, 2083.

The municipality has also warned that if the encroached areas are not vacated within the stipulated period, they will be removed with the help of security personnel. Following the notice, the affected locals have started protesting, stating that they are being asked to leave without alternative housing arrangements. The locals say the protest will continue until their demands are met.
