Rolpa Jeep Accident Investigation Report to be Submitted Today

Kathmandu. The investigation report of the horrific jeep accident in Thawang, Rolpa, is being prepared to be submitted today. The three-day deadline given to the investigation committee formed under the leadership of the Prime Minister by the Home Ministry, following the accident on Baisakh 17 that claimed 20 lives, is expiring today.

According to Hemraj Aryal, spokesperson for the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers' Office, the government is prepared to immediately implement the findings and suggestions of the committee's report as soon as it is received. The four-member committee, chaired by a Superintendent of Police from the Lumbini Province Police Office, has been conducting a detailed study of the technical and human aspects of the incident. The government has also committed to making necessary policy and structural improvements to the road safety system across the country based on this report.

Following the accident that occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Salayap, Thawang Rural Municipality-1, the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and local residents immediately carried out rescue operations. The Home Ministry had issued a statement immediately after the incident, stating that the investigation process had begun.

The Prime Minister's Office has stated that the government will move forward with determination to rectify the shortcomings seen in road accidents, as they are a serious issue connected to the lives and futures of citizens. The office has once again expressed condolences to the deceased and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
