16 Sheep Die, 38 Missing in Bajura After Storms, Landslides

Bajura. The District Police Office has stated that 16 sheep and goats have died and 38 are missing due to storms, landslides, and lightning.

On Tuesday evening, while returning with livestock that were grazing in the forest of Hunini, upper ward 2 of Jagannath Rural Municipality in the eastern northern part of the district, 16 sheep and goats died and 38 went missing due to landslides and lightning that occurred with the rain, informed Naresh Bahadur Shahi, Police Inspector and Spokesperson of the District Police Office, Bajura.

According to him, Police Spokesperson Shahi stated that two sheep belonging to local resident Chain Bahadur Bist of the same rural municipality-2 died, and nine went missing; Amrit Lwar's three sheep died in a landslide, and 14 went missing. Five died and 10 went missing belonging to local farmers of the same ward due to the landslide that occurred after heavy rainfall. Ain Bahadur Bist's three sheep died and five goats went missing.

Similarly, three sheep and goats died due to lightning at the shed of local resident Kul Bahadur Saud in Khoya Lake of Triveni Municipality-9, Paima. The police stated that significant damage occurred due to the storm, hail, and lightning that occurred on Tuesday evening.

Likewise, the storm on Tuesday damaged a shop operated by local businessman Bire Rawal in Kantya, ward 1 of Khaptad Chhededaha Rural Municipality, by blowing it away. The police stated that the ground-floor shop, made of wood and corrugated iron sheets, owned by local businessman Rawal, was blown away by the storm, damaging clothes and a sewing machine.

Police Spokesperson Shahi informed that police teams from Police Post Kunna, Police Post Badimalika, and Police Post Kanda have been dispatched to collect details of the damage caused by the storm and rain. Meanwhile, the Agriculture Knowledge Center Bajura has stated that the ripe wheat crop has also been damaged due to the storm, hail, and rain.
