Three arrested in Nepal for defrauding job seekers with promises of foreign employment

Kathmandu. Three people have been arrested on charges of defrauding individuals by luring them with attractive salaries for foreign employment and sending them to various countries.

According to the Central Police Newsroom, the arrested individuals are Jwalakumari Chand, 29, from Naumule Rural Municipality-8, Dailekh; Bhimkumari Gurung, 39, from Pokhara Metropolitan City-12, Kaski; and Bhagawanraj Thakuri, 37, from Siranchok Rural Municipality-6, Gorkha. They were apprehended on Tuesday.

Among those arrested, Jwalakumari defrauded one victim of Rs 334,000 by promising to send them to Azerbaijan. Bhim Kumari defrauded another victim of Rs 500,000 by promising employment in Hong Kong, and Bhagawanraj defrauded someone of Rs 120,000 with the lure of sending them to the UK.

Based on the complaints of the victims, a police team deployed from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested them. The accused have been sent to the Department of Foreign Employment in Tahachal for further action.
