Supreme Court Orders Police to Produce Industrialist Shekhar Golchha in Court Within 24 Hours

Kathmandu. The Supreme Court has ordered the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the police to produce former President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry and industrialist Shekhar Golchha in court within 24 hours in response to a habeas corpus writ filed against his detention.

The order was issued on Tuesday by the single bench of the Honorable Supreme Court Justice Nripadhwaj Niroula. Hearing the habeas corpus writ filed by Golchha's wife, Seema Golchha, the court ordered the respondents to present the detainee along with a written response within 24 hours.

The Kathmandu District Court had only on Monday granted the police permission to keep Golchha in custody for three more days for investigation. The bench of Justice Dandapani Lamichhane had granted the detention extension.

Golchha has been under investigation since being taken into custody by a CIB team on Thursday (Baisakh 10).
