Electric Vehicle Imports Surge Through Birgunj Port

Parsa. In the first nine months of the current fiscal year, electric vehicles worth NPR 2.98 billion have been imported through the Birgunj transit point.

Compared to the same period in the last fiscal year, the import of electric vehicles in the current fiscal year has increased by 102 percent, or NPR 1.50 billion.

Udaysingh Bisht, Information Officer at the Birgunj Customs Office, stated that the import of electric vehicles has increased by 100 percent in the first nine months of the current fiscal year. In the first nine months of the last fiscal year, electric vehicles worth NPR 1.48 billion were imported.

In the first nine months of the current fiscal year, 493 electric jeeps, cars, and vans worth NPR 1.46 billion were imported. In the same period last fiscal year, 172 electric jeeps, cars, and vans worth NPR 480 million were imported.

In the current fiscal year, 7,398 electric motorcycles worth NPR 960 million have been imported. In the same period last fiscal year, 4,227 electric motorcycles worth NPR 550 million were imported.

Similarly, in the first nine months of the current fiscal year, 4,606 electric three-wheelers worth NPR 530 million have been imported. In the same period last fiscal year, 3,613 electric three-wheelers worth NPR 450 million were imported.
