Karnali's potential as a film hub highlighted at workshop

Kathmandu. The Chairman of the Film Development Board, Dinesh DC, stated that the originality of Karnali and its geography are in themselves a film. He said that the stories of Karnali should now be told through skilled technicians from here, not by others.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 'Fourth Karnali Film Workshop-2083', which has been operating for the past six days in Birendranagar, the capital of Karnali Province, Chairman DC said that the workshop has played a significant role in producing skilled manpower at the local level as per the board's objectives. 'I urge the participants to put the skills learned here into practice and engage in creative work,' he said.

Certificates were distributed to the participating trainees at the conclusion of the workshop organized by KV Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.

This time, the workshop was specifically focused on scriptwriting and cinematography. The training received from senior director Shivam Adhikari and cinematographer Niraj Kandel for six days has greatly enthused the students. Participating trainees not only gained theoretical knowledge but also engaged in practical exercises of operating cameras and crafting stories.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the trainees shared their experiences, stating that they have undergone significant technical changes compared to before the workshop and have had the opportunity to understand the filmmaking process closely.

The chairman of the organizing company, Bhupendra Khadka, stated that the workshop's objective was successful and pledged that such campaigns would continue to connect Karnali's talents with the national mainstream. Khadka said, 'The enthusiasm and thirst for learning shown by the students have further encouraged us, fulfilling the goal with which we started this fourth edition. Karnali is now becoming not just a location for filming but also a mine of skilled manpower.'

On the occasion of the ceremony, Yam Acharya, who has been actively involved in Karnali's art and theater sector for the past three decades, was honored with the 'Srashta Samman 2083' (Creator Award 2083).

The ceremony was attended by veteran artists, theater personalities, and representatives of various organizations from Karnali.

This workshop, conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development and the Film Development Board, is expected to lay a new foundation for filmmaking in Karnali Province.
