Clashes erupt as authorities attempt to clear Manohara riverbank settlements

Kathmandu. Locals have pelted stones at a bulldozer deployed to clear encroached structures and squatter settlements along the banks of the Manohara River in Bhaktapur. The team, accompanied by the bulldozer, arrived at the riverbank in the evening after clearing the squatter settlement in Gairigaun.

A group in Manohara threw stones at the bulldozer, injuring police personnel in the process. According to police, 10 officers from the Armed Police Force and Nepal Police sustained injuries. Their conditions are reported to be stable.

Following the resistance from locals, the team with the bulldozer has retreated. A police official stated that efforts to clear the area will resume tomorrow morning.
