Police Apprehend Serial Burglar Who Escaped from Nakkhu Prison

Kathmandu. Police have arrested a suspect involved in a burglary case in Makalbari, Kathmandu. On Poush 27, 2082, 23-year-old Bikesh Shahi, also known as Bigyan Pariyar, was taken into custody for breaking into a locked room in Makalbari, Gokarneshwor Municipality-8, and stealing gold jewelry, a mobile phone, and 162,000 rupees in cash.

Police investigations suggest that he broke into the room and looted the valuables between 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM while the residents were away. A special team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office's Boudha branch arrested him from Naya Bazar on Baisakh 9.

A stolen mobile phone was also recovered from the possession of Pariyar, a native of Bidur Municipality-4, Nuwakot, who was currently residing in Chhetrapati.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Pariyar is a serial burglar who had previously escaped from prison while serving a sentence. He had been incarcerated for burglary and managed to flee from Nakkhu Prison in Lalitpur on Bhadra 24, 2082, taking advantage of the unrest at the time.

His criminal record is extensive. According to Superintendent of Police and Information Officer Rameshwor Karki, multiple burglary cases were registered against Pariyar at the Swayambhu, Janasewa, and Maligaon police circles between 2076 and 2081.

The arrested suspect has been sent to the Boudha Police Circle for further investigation and legal action.
