Former PM Sushila Karki to Dedicate Time to Literature

Kathmandu. Former Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that she will spend her time in the field of literature from now on. Addressing the 'Kathmandu Calling Literature Festival' held in Lalitpur, Karki made this request.

She urged to understand her not just as a former Chief Justice or former Prime Minister, but as a lover of literature. She stated that her role in the judiciary and executive was a result of compulsion and duty, clarifying that literature is her inner passion.

Recalling her literary journey, Karki narrated her experience of being jailed during the 1990 People's Movement. She informed that she wrote the novel 'Kara' after closely observing the pain and experiences of the women prisoners during her two-month jail term. She had published this novel only after her retirement.

Informing that she still has many concepts for stories and novels and half-written manuscripts, she said that she plans to bring out those works. Renowned poets and writers from Nepal and India were present in large numbers at the program.
