Nepali Congress MP Ranjit Karna files complaint with Cyber Bureau over misinformation

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress National Assembly member Ranjit Karna has filed a complaint with the Nepal Police Cyber Bureau. MP Karna filed the complaint expressing his objection to misleading and false news published against him.

Karna stated that he filed the complaint because his statements were distorted and misrepresented on social media. After filing the complaint, MP Karna said that the Congress is a party that believes in press freedom and he is committed to it as well. However, he argued that spreading misinformation to assassinate an individual's character does not constitute press freedom. 'Press freedom is freedom with responsibility,' Karna said.

Karna mentioned that a question he asked the Prime Minister was also distorted to spread confusion against him. Clarifying that he had raised a question regarding equal legal standards, Karna stated that the accusation of him 'threatening to burn Baluwatar' is false. He added that he is ready to face legal action if there is any evidence of such a claim.
