Road Division Hetauda Issues Final Ultimatum to Remove Illegal Structures Along Mahendra Highway

Kathmandu. The Road Division Office, Hetauda, has issued a final ultimatum to remove illegal houses and huts constructed by encroaching on the road boundary along the Pathlaiya-Churiyamai section of the Mahendra Highway. The office has issued a notice directing the clearance of the road boundary by 2083 Baishakh 10.

According to the Road Division, unauthorized structures have been built without the Department of Roads' approval in the area between Bridge No. 3 and the Churiyamai Temple (Bara) along the Pathlaiya-Churiyamai section of the Mahendra Highway. Legally, the area within 25 meters on both sides from the center of the road is considered the road boundary. The office has ordered the removal of all structures built within this limit.

The office stated that it has repeatedly urged the clearance of the road boundary in the past. As mentioned in the notice, the division had previously issued public notices on various dates, including 2073 Poush 18 and 2080 Ashar 9. However, as locals ignored these directives and failed to remove the houses/huts, the Road Division has been compelled to issue a fresh notice.

The notice, signed by Road Division Hetauda Chief Guru Prasad Adhikari, clarifies that legal action will be taken if the structures are not removed within the specified deadline (2083 Baishakh 10). 'If the order is not implemented despite this warning, action will be taken in accordance with the Public Roads Act, 2031 and prevailing Nepali laws,' the notice states.
