RSP Lawmaker Sudhan Gurung Faces Scrutiny Over Business Ties to Detained Figure

Kathmandu. Less than a month after taking the oath of office, RSP lawmaker Sudhan Gurung has come under intense scrutiny.

Questions have been raised following reports of his connection to Deepak Bhatta, who is currently in police custody amid a money laundering investigation.

Evidence has emerged of a business partnership between Gurung and Bhatta, complicating his position despite the recent disclosure of ministerial assets.

'Star Micro Insurance Company Limited' records indicate a partnership between Bhatta and Gurung.

The revelation of this professional connection between Gurung and Bhatta, who is known as a middleman, has caused widespread concern.

Responding to the issue, RSP General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti argued that holding shares does not automatically make someone guilty. However, he stated that the party would take action if wrongdoing is proven.

Burlakoti said, 'The party will inquire with the individual regarding whether the share investment was made illegally. Since the news has appeared in the media, the government will investigate it. If proven guilty during the investigation, the party will take action against anyone, regardless of who they are.'

Gurung could not be reached for comment on this matter.
