Dr. Shekhar Koirala's faction urges party unity following Supreme Court verdict

Kathmandu. The Dr. Shekhar Koirala faction of the Nepali Congress has stated that the responsibility for maintaining party unity now rests on the shoulders of General Secretary Gagan Thapa. A meeting of the faction held this morning at Dr. Koirala's residence decided to accept the Supreme Court's verdict. 

Outgoing Vice President Dhanraj Gurung, former General Secretary Dr. Shashank Koirala, outgoing Joint General Secretaries Jeevan Pariyar and Badri Pandey, along with leaders Bal Bahadur KC and Dr. Minendra Rijal, were among the 14 central leaders who concluded that the court's decision should be accepted, outgoing Joint General Secretary Pariyar informed RatoPati. 

According to Joint General Secretary Pariyar, the meeting reached a two-point conclusion. 

These are the conclusions:

1. It is known to us all. Although there have been varying perspectives within the party regarding a special general convention, we made every effort to reach a consensus at that time. Now, with the Supreme Court's verdict on the special general convention, a new situation has emerged.

In this situation, it is the duty of us all to accept the court's verdict and make the party more united. It is well known that since the party's inception, and even during the period of prohibition, we have maintained faith, loyalty, and respect for an independent judiciary.

2. In the current situation, it is our collective responsibility to build greater interest, unity, and a strong organization within the Nepali Congress. However, the responsibility of the party's Central Working Committee and the President is even greater. 

In these challenging times, we urge all party colleagues to remain responsible and committed from their respective positions to face the upcoming challenges of the party.
