Two children die after consuming meat of dead broiler chicken in Kailali

Dhangadhi. Two brothers from the same family have died after consuming the meat of a dead broiler chicken in Chure Rural Municipality, Kailali. 5-year-old Deepak Tamrakar and his 8-year-old brother Bhim Tamrakar from Chure Rural Municipality-3, Bhaktapur, passed away during treatment.

According to the District Police Office, Kailali, the children fell ill after eating the meat of the dead chicken on Thursday. Police were informed only on Friday, after which they were rushed to Seti Provincial Hospital in Dhangadhi. Police Inspector Kailash Bista confirmed that both brothers died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The victims' 28-year-old mother, Radhika Tamrakar, and 3-year-old brother, Dipesh Tamrakar, who also consumed the same meat, are in critical condition and are currently receiving treatment at Seti Provincial Hospital.

Preliminary police investigations suggest the Tamrakar family had purchased the dead chicken from a local poultry farm. Following the incident, the farm owner, Mangal Saud, presented himself at the Malakheti Area Police Office. Police stated that he has been released into the custody of relatives with instructions to appear when required.

Doctors have urged the public to remain vigilant, warning that consuming meat from dead or diseased animals poses a severe health risk.
