Man arrested in Kathmandu for fraud under pretext of settling banking offense case

Kathmandu. The District Police Range, Kathmandu, has arrested an individual for allegedly defrauding a person under the pretext of settling a banking offense case. The arrested individual is 52-year-old Bishworam Adhikari, alias 'Deepak', a resident of Banasthali, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-16.

According to the police, Adhikari had promised to settle a banking offense case involving the Government of Nepal as the plaintiff and Dhruva Bikram Malla as the defendant. He deceived the victim and absconded after collecting a total of 130,000 rupees through cash and mobile banking transactions on multiple occasions.

Following the complaint filed by the victim after the suspect fled with the money, the police intensified their search. A team from the District Police Range, Kathmandu, located and apprehended him from the Balaju area of Kathmandu at around 4:00 PM on 2083 Baishakh 2.

Police spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai stated that an investigation into the fraud case has been initiated against the arrested Adhikari. The police confirmed that he is currently being held for further investigation following a seven-day remand granted by the Kathmandu District Court.
