Four arrested in Sunsari for smuggling raw bananas worth over 1.1 million rupees

Sunsari. Police arrested four individuals on Friday from Bhutaha Bazaar in Harinagar Rural Municipality-4, Sunsari, along with raw bananas worth over 1.1 million rupees.

District Police Office Sunsari Superintendent of Police Keshab Kumar Thebe identified the arrested individuals as driver Prahlad Dahal (22) of Ratuwamai Rural Municipality-8, Morang; Gyan Bahadur Bhattarai (24) of Urlabari Municipality-8, Morang; Seraj Miya (27) of Bhokraha Narsingh Rural Municipality-2, Sunsari; and Rameshwar Das (60) of Koshi Rural Municipality-8, Bhantabari.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team intercepted two pickup trucks (Pr 1-02-002 Cha 7449 and Pr 1-01-002 Cha 1801) traveling from Ghuski towards Inaruwa. Upon inspection, the police seized the raw bananas, which lacked proper billing and documentation.

The District Police Office stated that the seized goods are valued at 1.12 million rupees. The confiscated bananas and the vehicles have been handed over to the Sunsari Customs Office at Setubandh Koshi Barrage for further legal action.
