Father and son missing after boat capsizes in Karnali River

Achham. The whereabouts of 35-year-old Pahalsingh Budha and his 11-year-old son Nari Budha from Turmakhad, Achham, remain unknown after they crossed the Karnali River to collect a heavy load of grass. They went missing on Thursday evening when their boat capsized while returning from Surkhet. Half a dozen security units have been mobilized to search for them.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the boat, which was being operated by Pahalsingh himself, became uncontrollable and capsized in the middle of the Karnali River. According to DSP Omprakash Khanal of the District Police Office, Achham, four Nepal Police units, including a disaster rescue team trained by the Armed Police Force, have intensified the search operation.

The search is being hampered by the river's strong current and difficult geographical terrain.
