Department of Hydrology and Meteorology Issues Heatwave Alert for Terai Region

Kathmandu. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecasted extreme heat across the Terai region, stretching from Saptari in Madhesh Province to Kanchanpur in Sudurpashchim Province. The department issued a special bulletin today, urging residents in these areas to take necessary precautions to stay safe from the heat.

According to the department, temperatures in the Terai districts are rising steadily, which may impact daily life. Specifically, areas marked in 'yellow' (indicating a need for caution) are expected to experience extreme heat during the afternoon. This weather pattern is likely to persist tomorrow, and residents are advised to remain vigilant.

Meteorologists have provided several recommendations to protect against the rising heat and heatwaves. The department advises individuals to carry an umbrella, cover their heads, and wear light, breathable clothing when venturing out during the peak afternoon sun.

Furthermore, the public is encouraged to drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration and to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
