UK Ambassador Rob Fenn Meets Education Minister Pokharel to Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

Kathmandu. Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Sasmita Pokharel, held a courtesy meeting with the United Kingdom's Ambassador to Nepal, Rob Fenn, on Wednesday.

During the meeting held at the Ministry in Singha Durbar, discussions focused on collaboration in Nepal's education and sports sectors. Furthermore, the dialogue centered on the historical bilateral relations, support, and mutual cooperation between Nepal and the UK.

The two sides also discussed continuing the support and collaboration provided by the UK government in the education sector. Minister Pokharel and Ambassador Fenn consulted on cooperation for the autism schools that the Government of Nepal plans to operate in all seven provinces, as well as the professional development of teachers.

During the meeting, Minister Pokharel, who also serves as the spokesperson for the Government of Nepal, expressed expectations for the UK government's continued support in areas such as education sector reform and teacher capacity building. Additionally, Minister Pokharel expressed confidence in receiving necessary support for resource and human resource development for autism schools and professional teacher development.

Ambassador Fenn stated that the UK government is eager to continue its long-standing support and collaboration in Nepal's educational and sports sectors, as well as other areas.

The meeting resulted in an understanding to further strengthen the mutual interests and multifaceted relationship between the two countries. Discussions also covered collaboration on teacher capacity development and the potential for transnational education in Nepal.
