Pushpalal Marxist University Inaugurated in Ramechhap

Ramechhap. The Pushpalal Marxist University has been inaugurated at the Pushpalal-Ganga Lal birthplace in Bhangeri, Ramechhap. The university was jointly inaugurated by former Nepal Rastra Bank Governor and former National Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Dipendra Bahadur Chhetri, Revolutionary Communist Party Nepal spokesperson and Marxist philosopher Hemantaprakash Oli 'Sudarshan', Marxist aesthetician Prof. Dr. Gopindra Paudel, Socialist Communist Party Nepal General Secretary Purna Bahadur Singh 'Samarajung', and the university's visionary and chairman, Ashok Subedi.

Following the unveiling of the university banner at the Pushpalal-Ganga Lal statue in Bhangeri on the 24th, instructors conducted five days of Marxist studies for students at the assembly halls in Bhangeri, Srijananagar, and Manthali Municipality. The university reported that thirty students participated in the first batch, noting that resource limitations prevented a larger intake.

During the sessions, economist Chhetri taught Marxist economics, Sudarshan taught Marxist philosophy, Paudel covered Marxist aesthetics, General Secretary Samarajung discussed scientific socialism, and Subedi lectured on the Marxist university and class struggle.

The first batch, which attended classes from Chait 24 to 28, was formally graduated following the conclusion of the course. The graduation ceremony was conducted by instructors Chhetri, Sudarshan, Paudel, and Subedi.

At the graduation ceremony, student representatives including farmer representative Vijay Paudel, women's representative Sita Gautam, martyr family and media representative Dharbindra BK, youth representative Saroj Neupane, labor representative Sujata Roka, creator representative Rasuwali Kabi, and student representative Mukti Gaire expressed pride in completing the course and pledged to apply their knowledge in society.

During the ceremony, Chairman Subedi honored professors Chhetri, Sudarshan, Paudel, and Samarajung with shawls and letters of appreciation. The event featured well-wishes from various political figures, including Socialist Communist Party Nepal standing committee members Madhav Gautam, Binod Thapa, and Khambu Chand, Revolutionary Communist Party Nepal secretariat member Ambika Chand 'Sudristi', Nepal Communist Party Bagmati Province member Deepak Prasai, and the mayors of Ramechhap and Manthali municipalities. University founder member Bishwambhar Lamichhane delivered the welcome address.

The university stated that it received messages of support from leaders of 19 active communist/leftist parties in Nepal, as well as various study societies and foundations. The university plans to organize an expert conference for Marxist scholars in Kathmandu by the month of Jestha, after which the curriculum will be finalized and classes will be expanded to various parts of the country. Chairman Subedi stated that the university was established to bring the philosophy, theory, and ideas of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism to the oppressed, working, and proletarian classes worldwide. The curriculum incorporates knowledge and scientific advancements from countries including Russia, China, Germany, Korea, Cuba, Vietnam, Nepal, India, and Peru. Following the inauguration, the university has proposed the formation of various academic, political, philosophical, advisory, and management groups.

The university has taken over the ideological work previously conducted for the past 20 years by the Hitprasad Upadhyay Junmaya Subedi Literary Foundation, the Marxist Literary Foundation, and the Ramechhap Literary Foundation in Ramechhap, Kathmandu, and other locations. Organizers claim this is the first Marxist university in the world and that it will be expanded to all countries.
