Parliament Leaders Urge Timely Completion of New Parliament Building

Kathmandu. Speaker of the House of Representatives Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal and Chairman of the National Assembly Narayan Prasad Dahal have expressed concern over the progress of the parliament building construction.

During a discussion with officials from the Ministry of Urban Development and representatives of the construction company on Monday, Speaker Aryal directed that the building construction work be completed within the stipulated timeframe.

The discussion was also attended by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Indira Rana and Vice-Chair of the National Assembly Bimala Ghimire.

The contract for the construction of the parliament building was signed with Tundi-Shrestha JV on 2076 Ashoj 18 for 7.94 billion rupees.

Although the initial target was to complete the project within three years, the deadline has been extended six times so far. According to the latest agreement, the construction is scheduled to be completed by Jestha 9.

The Ministry of Urban Development stated that approximately 94 percent of the building's construction work has been completed to date.

The interior contract for the building was awarded to KC-Shyamsundar-Baniya JV for 2.34 billion rupees, while the contract for roof construction was awarded to Chainlink Engineering for 38 million rupees.
