Leader Sudan Kirati Questions Wealth Disclosures of Ministers

Kathmandu. Leader Sudan Kirati has criticized the public asset disclosures of the Prime Minister and ministers. Under the title 'Rule of the rich on the votes of the poor' on social media, he questioned the source of the disproportionate wealth held by ministers.

Kirati expressed astonishment at how some individuals have accumulated so much wealth in Nepal while millions of youths are migrating abroad due to a lack of earning opportunities at home. Quoting a victim, he wrote, 'To earn excessive wealth, either your ancestors must have done something wrong, or you must have done something wrong yourself.'

Stating that the source of income must be disclosed according to rules when submitting asset details, he questioned whether those ministers have paid taxes to the state. Kirati has also urged the government led by Balen Shah to take action according to the law against those who hold land beyond the legal limit.
