Katari-11 Secures Victory in Sixth Katari International Mayor's Gold Cup

Udayapur. The host team, Katari-11, made a winning start in the sixth Katari International Invitational Mayor's Gold Cup football tournament, which began in Katari on Saturday. In the opening match held on Saturday, the hosts defeated India's River The Sporting Club, Sikkim, by 2-0 goals.

Nirajan Sunuwar gave Katari the lead by scoring in the seventh minute of the first half. In the fifth minute of the second half, Katari captain Pratap Rai scored the second goal for the team. Neither team was able to score further.

Katari captain Rai was declared the Man of the Match. He was awarded a cash prize of Rs 5,000 along with a medal and a trophy. Organized by the Katari Municipal Sports Development Committee, the winner of the tournament will receive Rs 500,000 in cash, a trophy, medals, and certificates. The runner-up will receive Rs 300,000 in cash, a trophy, medals, and certificates.

Organizing committee chairman Deepak Rai stated that the tournament, featuring eight teams, will conclude on 5 Baishakh. Today, Just Johrn FC Nigeria and Hetauda Football Club Makwanpur will compete in the tournament.

Teams from Katari, Sikkim, Nigeria, and Hetauda, along with Chatya CFC Jhapa, Champion Boys Kathmandu, Kerabari Football Club Morang, and Shales Youth Club Siraha, will compete for the title.
