Kathmandu Metropolitan City Launches Greening Initiative to Beautify City Streets

Kathmandu. The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has intensified its efforts to beautify the city by planting flowers in pots along the roadsides, aiming to make the city more attractive and greener. 

The campaign was initiated by the Park and Greenery Promotion Project under the metropolitan's pride project, 'My Desire, Beautiful and Green City.' It is believed that this initiative will not only enhance the city's aesthetics but also help maintain a clean urban environment. 

The Bougainvillea flowers planted will bloom in various colors, including yellow, red, and pink. Sturdy cement pots have been used to ensure the sustainability and organization of the planting work. The Environment Management Department is responsible for planting, weeding, and regular watering in these permanent large pots.

This metropolitan campaign will not be limited to main roads only. While the first phase covers the area around the main administrative center, Singha Durbar, the second phase plans to extend the placement of pots to the inner urban areas of Kathmandu. 

Local residents have responded positively to the metropolitan's effort to free the city from being a concrete jungle and decorate it with greenery and colorful flowers. It is expected that the blooming flowers along the roadsides will make travel pleasant for both pedestrians and drivers.
