Department of Immigration Clarifies Documentation Requirements for Migrant Workers

Kathmandu. The Department of Immigration has clarified that migrant workers heading for foreign employment are not required to present any payment receipts other than their labor permit at the airport. The Department issued this clarification following confusion caused by a notice published by the Department of Foreign Employment on Chaitra 23.

The Department of Foreign Employment had previously indicated that Nepali workers must present receipts and other documents when departing from the Tribhuvan International Airport Immigration Office. "For the information of all concerned, it is requested that Nepali workers do not need to submit any additional documents or bills/receipts at the immigration office when departing from Nepal, other than the minimum basic documents such as the labor permit issued by the Department of Foreign Employment and a passport," the notice issued by the Department of Immigration stated.

The Department has requested that Nepali citizens traveling abroad should not be misled by any rumors and should travel confidently after being fully informed about their destination country and travel arrangements.

The Department stated that the existing provision for Nepali citizens departing on a 'visit visa' remains in effect, requiring a passport with at least six months validity, a round-trip air ticket to the destination country, and entry permission (visa) for the respective country, along with a self-declaration.
