Rain and Thunderstorms Forecast Across Eastern and Central Nepal

Kathmandu. Weather conditions in the eastern and central regions of Nepal have remained overcast with ongoing rainfall since early this morning. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the Meteorological Forecasting Division, most hilly and mountainous regions of the country, including Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces, are currently experiencing general cloud cover.

The Division reported that light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is occurring in some areas of Koshi Province and a few locations in Madhesh and Bagmati provinces. This weather system is currently moving towards the east.

According to the Division, clouds causing thunder and lightning are moving towards the eastern regions, including Ilam, Panchthar, Terhathum, and Taplejung in Koshi Province. Meteorologists have advised residents in these areas to exercise caution and remain alert. The department has requested that necessary preparations be made due to the risk of lightning accompanying the rain in hilly areas.

Currently, Nepal is under the partial influence of a western low-pressure system and local winds.
