MP Mahendra Bahadur Shahi Urges Government to Prioritize Self-Reliant Economy

Kathmandu. Nepal Communist Party (NCP) lawmaker Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has stated that the government should not attempt to run the country solely on the basis of foreign grants and loans. Speaking during a special session of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, he advised the government to take concrete steps toward developing a self-reliant economy.

MP Shahi also cautioned the government to conduct impartial investigations into all corruption scandals and take strict action against those found guilty. He emphasized the need for the government to take decisive action in advancing foreign policy while remaining mindful of geopolitical sensitivities.

MP Shahi said, 'The country should not be run solely on foreign grants and loans. The development of a self-reliant economy is essential. The government should take concrete steps in this direction. I urge the government to advance foreign relations based on the principles of Panchsheel and a non-aligned foreign policy, while remaining conscious of Nepal's geopolitical sensitivities. Furthermore, all corruption scandals must be impartially investigated and the guilty must be punished.'

MP Shahi stated that the government should intensify its campaign to establish good governance in the country without discrimination.
