Shah Rukh Khan opts out of Rajinikanth's 'Jailer 2' to focus on 'King'

Mumbai. The dream of fans to see South superstar Rajinikanth and Bollywood's 'Badshah' Shah Rukh Khan together on the big screen will not be fulfilled for now. This is because Shah Rukh Khan has opted out of 'Jailer 2', the sequel to Rajinikanth's blockbuster film 'Jailer'.

According to media reports, the producers of 'Jailer 2' had offered Shah Rukh Khan a special role requiring five days of shooting. Initially, Shah Rukh appeared positive about the offer. However, he decided not to do the film to prepare for his upcoming movie 'King' and to keep his look for the project confidential.

Shah Rukh Khan is set to appear in a very different and special look in the film 'King'. He does not want that look to be revealed in any film released before 'King'.

'Jailer 2' is being prepared for release in August 2025, while 'King' will only be released in December 2026. It is reported that after deciding to leave the film, Shah Rukh Khan spoke to Rajinikanth himself. He informed Rajinikanth about his situation and expressed his desire to work together on a major project in the future. Rajinikanth graciously accepted Shah Rukh's humble explanation.

Shah Rukh Khan is currently busy preparing for his action thriller film 'King'. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film will feature Shah Rukh alongside his daughter Suhana Khan in a lead role. Abhishek Bachchan will appear as the villain, with other cast members including Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, and Arshad Warsi. The film is scheduled for release on December 24, 2026.
