Rabindra Mishra Recalls Diplomatic Guidelines Amidst Balen Shah's Meetings with Ambassadors

Kathmandu. Following Prime Minister Balen Shah's decision to hold collective meetings with ambassadors, politician Rabindra Mishra has recalled the diplomatic guidelines previously adopted by the Bibeksheel Sajha Party.

He wrote on social media: 'The 13-point diplomatic guideline issued by the Bibeksheel Sajha Party on 2076 Jestha 31 aimed to make meetings and relationships between central committee members and foreign embassies, diplomatic missions, and foreign representatives transparent, organized, and respectful. The purpose of the guideline was also to address the manipulation and complexities arising from unnecessary relationships between political party leaders and foreign diplomats in Nepal's politics. Other parties were also called upon to adopt similar practices.'

The guidelines include provisions such as: central committee members cannot attend any embassy events without prior approval from the foreign department or unless it is an official program; approval from the foreign department is mandatory for any political-natured meetings with members of foreign embassies or foreigners; and any meetings approved by the foreign department must take place at the party office or a neutral location.

Mishra stated that the guidelines also mention that central committee members are prohibited from inviting any ambassador or foreign official to their residence, meetings with foreign embassy members approved by the foreign department must be reported to the relevant desk at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and central committee members are strictly prohibited from meeting with members of any intelligence agencies.
