Nepal Weather Update: Widespread Rain and Snowfall Forecasted

Kathmandu. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported that Nepal is currently under the influence of a western low-pressure system and local winds. As a result, skies are generally cloudy in the Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as in the mountainous regions of Bagmati and Koshi provinces. The weather remains mostly clear in the remaining parts of the country.

This afternoon, the Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces will experience full cloud cover, while the rest of the country will see partial cloudiness. There is a possibility of moderate rain and snowfall accompanied by lightning, gusty winds, and hail in many places across Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as in some hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces, and a few locations in the Terai regions of Madhesh, Koshi, and Bagmati provinces.

Heavy rain and snowfall are expected in one or two locations within the hilly and mountainous regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces. Gusty winds are also anticipated in some areas of the hilly and Terai regions of Madhesh, Lumbini, Gandaki, Bagmati, and Koshi provinces.

Tonight, the weather is expected to be generally cloudy across the country. The Department has stated that there is a possibility of moderate rain and snowfall accompanied by lightning in many places across the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as in a few locations in the Terai region.
