CPN (UML) Lawmaker Dr. Arjun Kumar Karki Demands Formation of Himalayan and Remote Area Development Authority

Kathmandu. CPN (UML) lawmaker Dr. Arjun Kumar Karki has demanded that the government establish a 'Himalayan and Remote Area Development Authority.' He made this demand during the zero hour of the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday.

Lawmaker Karki argued that the immediate establishment of such an authority is necessary to create industries in villages and employment opportunities in every household across the Himalayan and hilly regions. He emphasized that Nepal's Himalayan and hilly regions possess immense potential for agriculture, tourism, and herbal development, and urged the government to prioritize development projects that effectively mobilize these resources.

Lawmaker Karki stated, 'People in remote areas of the hilly districts are suffering due to issues related to education, health, and road infrastructure. Our Himalayan and hilly regions, in particular, hold great potential. I demand that the government establish a Himalayan and Remote Area Development Authority to create employment based on agriculture, tourism, and herbs, thereby fostering industries in villages and jobs in every home.'

Lawmaker Karki further noted that due to the lack of employment, the government must focus on mobilizing the country's resources and means to address these challenges.
