Hearing Scheduled for Former Security Printing Center Chief Bikal Paudel in Corruption Case

Kathmandu. A hearing has been scheduled for the corruption case involving former Security Printing Center Executive Director Bikal Paudel, who is accused of accumulating illegal assets.

The case is set to be heard by a Special Court bench comprising judges Narayan Prasad Paudel, Dilli Ratna Shrestha, and Umesh Koirala. On Jestha 9, 2081, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed a corruption case against Paudel, alleging the illegal acquisition of 621,918,684.29 rupees.

The CIAA alleges that Paudel hid funds in Singapore and the United States under the name of his wife, Alina Basnet, as part of his illegal wealth accumulation.

The commission claims that Paudel accepted commissions from suppliers and funneled the money through various individuals. While the investigation revealed that Paudel embezzled 621.9 million rupees, authorities were only able to locate 445.2 million rupees; consequently, the CIAA has requested the confiscation of the remaining 176.6 million rupees in hidden assets.
