Nepal Electricity Authority Engineer Arrested for Bribery in Saptari

Saptari. A team from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has taken Mahendra Kumar Das, the Chief Engineer of the Nepal Electricity Authority's Kanchanpur Distribution Center in Saptari, into custody for accepting a bribe.

He was arrested following complaints that he had been soliciting bribes from service seekers under the pretext of installing a transformer and providing power supply for the operation of a charging station.

A special team deployed from the CIAA's Itahari office apprehended Engineer Das in Ward Number 1 of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality, Saptari, while he was in the process of accepting 140,000 rupees from a service seeker.

CIAA Assistant Spokesperson Ganesh Bahadur Adhikari stated that further investigation is currently underway against Das, who was arrested with the bribe money during the operation conducted on Monday, under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
