Kanchanpur's Laljhadi Rural Municipality Offers 50% Subsidy on Improved Rice Seeds

Kanchanpur. The Laljhadi Rural Municipality in Kanchanpur is set to provide a 50 percent subsidy to farmers for improved rice seeds. The municipality is offering this subsidy with the objective of increasing rice productivity.

According to the municipality's Agriculture Officer Dashrath Saud, preparations are underway to distribute the improved rice seeds to farmers through agricultural groups and cooperatives under the approved program for the current fiscal year. "We have issued a notice. Based on the applications received, we will select the farmers and provide the seeds," he said, adding, "We expect that the improved rice seeds will lead to an increase in productivity." He informed that the municipality has allocated a budget of Rs 500,000, with farmers covering the remaining fifty percent of the cost.

The Agriculture Knowledge Center in Kanchanpur is also providing a fifty percent subsidy to farmers for rice seed production. According to the center's chief, Hari Prasad Paneru, the subsidy is being made available to farmers through agricultural groups, farms, and cooperatives.

The office has called on farmers to submit their applications by Baisakh 3. Recently, farmers engaged in commercial agriculture have been receiving subsidies from both the provincial government and local municipalities.
