Former Finance Minister Pun Criticizes Government's Decision to Secure 28 Billion Loan

Kathmandu. Former Finance Minister and Communist Party of Nepal leader Barshaman Pun has expressed dissatisfaction with the current government's decision to take a loan of 28 billion.

Speaking to journalists at the central office in Parisdanda, Pun voiced his disapproval of the government's decision to accept foreign debt. He questioned the move, noting that the party came into alternative politics with the promise of not taking loans.

'Our colleagues entered politics claiming they would not take loans and that the country was being drowned by debt. They presented an alternative form of politics. Yet, within days of being in government, they decided to take a 28 billion loan,' he said. 'They need to provide an answer and clarify this to the public. How can one believe that they would take a loan immediately after claiming they would not? It is not for us to say, as we do not have the mandate. We are the ones who believe that loans should be taken according to necessity and spent on infrastructure.'
