Controversy Surrounds Land Leased by Home Minister in Phewa Lake Conservation Zone

Pokhara. Amidst the ongoing Phewa Lake conservation campaign, land reportedly leased by Home Minister Sudan Gurung in the Simle area of Pokhara Metropolitan City-22 has come under scrutiny.

The structures built on the land appear to be currently unused. The premises are locked and overgrown with bushes.

According to local sources, the land falls within the designated standards of Phewa Lake, where boundary markers recently installed by the Pokhara Metropolitan City have also been found.

Meanwhile, as part of its campaign to remove illegal huts built around Phewa Lake, the Metropolitan City began demolition work with bulldozers on Saturday morning.

Home Minister Gurung has publicly addressed the issue, claiming he was defrauded and stating that he intends to pursue legal remedies.
