Rabi Lamichhane and Gyanendra Shahi hold talks amid Deputy Speaker election

Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) parliamentary party leader Gyanendra Shahi held a meeting on Saturday. The discussion, which lasted for about an hour, took place at Lamichhane's private residence. 

With the election for the vacant post of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives approaching, this meeting between the two leaders is considered significant. It is understood that the main agenda of the meeting focused on potential cooperation for the Deputy Speaker position and a common strategy within Parliament. 

The RSP has already elected DP Aryal as the Speaker. According to constitutional provisions, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker must belong to different parties and genders. For this reason, the RSP is in a position where it must cooperate with parties outside the ruling coalition.
