Government to Establish Model Schools for Children with Autism in All Seven Provinces

Kathmandu. The government has announced the establishment of model schools for children with 'autism' in all seven provinces. On the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day (April 2), a meeting held today in coordination with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, attended by ministers, secretaries, and representatives of relevant stakeholder agencies, announced the establishment of one autism-based model school in each of the seven provinces.

Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Sasmit Pokharel, informed that the government is initiating the establishment of these model schools with the objective of providing accessible, simple, and effective services to children with autism. 

In the program chaired by Education Minister Pokharel and attended by Minister of Health and Population, Nisha Mehta, plans were unveiled to operate well-equipped residential schools in every province for children with autism and intellectual disabilities.

The government has decided to coordinate between various ministries to effectively advance this initiative. It has been stated that a technical committee has been formed to prepare a concept paper for this purpose.
