MP Harka Sampang Presents 9-Point Proposal to Government in Parliament

Kathmandu. Shram Sanskriti Party MP Harka Raj Rai (Harka Sampang) has presented a 9-point demand and suggestion to the government in the House of Representatives regarding national independence, good governance, economic development, and public livelihood.

Speaking from the parliament rostrum on Thursday, he stated that the government must take immediate steps to protect national independence and sovereignty. At the end of his address, he handed over a letter containing the 9-point suggestions to the Speaker.

The major demands raised by MP Rai in parliament are as follows:

1. MCC Repeal and Non-Aligned Foreign Policy: To preserve national independence, geopolitical balance, and a non-aligned foreign policy, the unequal and anti-national trade agreement 'MCC', initiated with military strategic objectives, should be repealed.

2. Nepal Army for Border Security: The government must monitor activities by neighboring countries in border areas. The Nepal Army should be deployed to protect the borders by verifying Nepal's four corners through bodies like the United Nations.

3. Directly Elected Executive: A system for electing a directly executive head, chosen directly by the people, should be implemented. His party will provide full support if a two-thirds majority government moves this arrangement forward.

4. High-Level Investigation into 'Gen-Z' Movement and Arson: A high-level committee should be formed to investigate the act of bringing children onto the streets in school uniforms in the name of the 'Gen-Z' movement, inciting peaceful protests into violence, and the burning of supreme bodies including Singha Durbar and the Parliament building on Bhadra 23 and 24.

5. Investigation of Assets of Ministers and MPs: The campaign for asset investigation and money laundering control should start from the members of the Council of Ministers and MPs. The trend of applying rules and laws only to others while exempting oneself must end.

6. Life-Oriented and Practical Education: Education should be linked to production, construction, and innovation. An education policy should be implemented where theoretical subjects are taught for only 3 days a week, and students are engaged in production and innovation activities for the remaining 4 days.

7. Modernization of the Agricultural Sector: Since the country's economic progress is impossible without solving agricultural problems, the issues in agriculture must be identified and technical solutions adopted.

8. One Industry per Municipality, One Employment per Family: A policy should be introduced to guarantee at least one industry in each municipality and one job for every family. Closed industries should be reopened, and new ones should be established.

9. Maximum Utilization of Natural Resources: Laws should be made to facilitate the utilization of natural resources such as stones, gravel, soil, rivers, mines, and forests for public interest and prosperity.

Beyond these 9 points, MP Rai also raised other important contemporary issues during his address. Accordingly, he suggested that the government should not use dozers on squatter settlements, recognize that Nepal exists outside of Kathmandu, and provide equal pensions to former Gurkhas.
