National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority Initiates 2083 Monsoon Preparedness Plan

Kathmandu. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority is set to develop the National Monsoon Preparedness and Response Action Plan 2083. For this purpose, an 18-member task force has been formed under the coordination of Roshani Kumari Shrestha, Joint Secretary and Head of the Policy, Planning, and Monitoring Division of the Authority, and work has already commenced.

Authority spokesperson and Deputy Secretary Shanti Mahat stated that the task force was formed to prepare the National Monsoon Preparedness and Response Action Plan 2083. The task force includes representatives from disaster-related federal ministries, departments, the Authority, and all three security agencies.

The action plan is being developed to ensure that all stakeholders, including federal, provincial, and local levels, security agencies, and partner organizations, engage in systematic preparedness and response to effectively address potential monsoon disasters and minimize the loss of life and property.

Ramkumar KC, Deputy Secretary at the Authority and a member of the task force, mentioned that all representatives have been given one week to provide necessary suggestions, expressing confidence that the action plan will be completed on time this year.

He also noted that a meeting of the task force is scheduled for next week once suggestions regarding the contents of the action plan are received. Home Minister Sudan Gurung, during a recent event at the Authority, had directed the timely formulation of the response plan to ensure efficient disaster management.
