Ram Bahadur Thapa and Suhang Nembang Vie for CPN-UML Parliamentary Party Leadership

Kathmandu. Ram Bahadur Thapa 'Badal' and Suhang Nembang have staked their claims for the position of Parliamentary Party leader of the CPN-UML. A lawmaker stated that discussions are underway at the party's central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur, to select Badal as the leader by consensus. The lawmaker added that if a consensus is not reached, the matter will be resolved through an election process.

'Ram Bahadur Thapa has been proposed as the party leader. However, Suhang-ji has argued that given the sentiment of the Gen-Z movement and the significant presence of youth in parliament, his appointment would send a positive message. Efforts are being made to select the leader by consensus as much as possible. If no agreement is reached, it will be decided through an election,' a lawmaker told RatoPati.

According to the lawmaker, discussions are currently ongoing to reach a consensus. The CPN-UML won 25 seats in the election held on Falgun 21.
