Over 100 Corruption Complaints Filed Against Local Governments in Jumla to Regional Anti-Graft Office

Jumla. One hundred twenty-six complaints related to the eight local levels of Jumla have been filed at the Karnali Province Office of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) in Surkhet.

Dharma Raj Budha, Information Officer at the office, stated that various complaints regarding irregularities and corruption in the local levels were received up to the month of Falgun in the current fiscal year, and 35 of these have been settled. He informed that Chandannath Municipality received the highest number of complaints, with 52, of which 13 have been settled.

Similarly, Information Officer Budha reported that out of 23 complaints against Gutichaur Rural Municipality, nine were settled; out of 11 complaints against Patarasi, four were settled; out of nine complaints against Tatopani Rural Municipality, two were settled; out of seven against Hima Rural Municipality, one was settled; out of nine against Tila, two were settled; out of four against Sinja, two were settled; and out of 11 against Kanakasundari, two were settled.

The Commission has indicated that complaints against local levels are increasing every year. The Commission's provincial office covers the 10 districts of Karnali Province, as well as the Rukum East district of Lumbini Province.
