Anti-Graft Body Files Corruption Case Against National Transmission Grid Company Secretary

Kathmandu. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case in the Special Court against Rajesh Pokhrel, the Company Secretary of the National Transmission Grid Company Limited. The Commission filed the charge sheet on Chaitra 17 after confirming that Pokhrel obtained a government service position and received benefits worth millions by submitting fake and forged work experience certificates.

During the investigation, it was found that Pokhrel created a fake experience letter stating he worked as a Senior Officer at Garjang Valley Hydropower Limited to secure the position of Company Secretary in 2073 BS. The concerned hydropower company informed the CIAA that Pokhrel had never been employed at their office and that there was no record of the certificate he submitted. Based on this false information, he was appointed on a service contract starting from Falgun 10, 2073 BS.

The CIAA stated that Pokhrel benefited a total of NPR 10,701,584 through salary, allowances, and other facilities over a period of nearly 9 years. The Commission has demanded imprisonment and a fine, determining that submitting forged documents to obtain a responsible position in a public entity constitutes an offense under Section 16(1) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059.
