CPN-UML Announces Continued Protests Against 'Vindictive' Arrests of Oli and Lekhak

Kathmandu. The CPN-UML has announced the continuation of its protests, labeling the arrests of party Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak as vindictive.

General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel informed that the Secretariat meeting held on Tuesday decided to continue the agitation and announced further programs. It was also decided to immediately call a meeting of the party's Central Committee to finalize further protest programs.

CPN-UML to Raise Issue of Oli's Arrest in Parliament

The protest programs are as follows-

1. Holding large gatherings at the district level until Chaitra 25.

2. Organizing protest demonstrations in all municipalities on Chaitra 28.

3. Holding gatherings at the ward level on Baisakh 3.

4. Demonstrations in the provincial capitals on Baisakh 7.

5. Holding a massive protest demonstration in the capital on Baisakh 12.

• All mass organizations will conduct their own protest programs, including those related to the government's activities concerning student and professional organizations, to support the effectiveness of the party-declared agitation. Furthermore, a meeting of the mass organization coordination mechanism will be held at the party office tomorrow at 11 AM.
• Vice Chairman Raghuji Pant, Deputy General Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai, and Central Committee member Min Bahadur Shahi have been assigned the responsibility for all-party citizen dialogue.
• Vice Chairman Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal and Secretary Padma Aryal have been assigned the responsibility for coordination with parties and effective presentation within the Parliament. Additionally, the parliamentary party meeting will convene at the party office tomorrow at 3 PM.
