Nepal Scraps Token System, Foreign Employment Permits Now Issued Same Day

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security on Sunday removed the token system for obtaining labor permits.

With the removal of the token system by the ministry, labor permits will now be issued on the same day an application is submitted. Previously, the token system limited the issuance of labor permits to a fixed number daily.

However, with the arrival of the new government, that system has been abolished, and citizens going for foreign employment will now receive labor permits on the day they apply.

The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security had directed the Department of Foreign Employment to end the token system in labor permits and arrange for permits to be issued on the day of application.

Based on that directive, the department announced that arrangements have been made to issue labor permits on the same day an application is submitted. The department stated that labor permits and re-labor permits will be issued on the same day provided the specified documents are submitted.
