National People's Front Condemns Arrests of Former PM Oli and Minister as Arbitrary and Authoritarian

Kathmandu. The National People's Front (Janamorcha) has condemned the arrests of former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, labeling them as arbitrary and authoritarian measures.

Party Chairman Chitra Bahadur KC issued a press statement today, pointing out the danger that the government's action poses in pushing the country towards fascism.
The statement mentioned that while the party is clear that action must be taken against those guilty of the Bhadra 23rd massacre, any action must be impartial and just, following due legal process.

'The arrest of Oli and others does not appear to have followed the due process of law,' the statement read, 'We strongly condemn the arbitrary manner of arrest.'
Chairman KC has demanded a high-level investigation into the Bhadra 23rd shooting incident, elements inciting violence against the peaceful protest, and the vandalism and arson incidents that occurred on Bhadra 24th.

The National People's Front has demanded that the government form a high-level impartial investigation commission led by a sitting Supreme Court Justice to uncover the facts of these incidents.
