CPN-UML Rautahat Protests Arrest of Party Chairman Oli and Leader Ramesh Lekhak

Rautahat. The CPN (UML) District Committee Rautahat has submitted a protest letter to the District Administration Office Rautahat against the current government's arrest of party Chairman KP Sharma Oli and leader Ramesh Lekhak.

UML cadres, led by Central Committee member and District In-charge Ajay Kumar Gupta, protested in Gaur on Sunday and handed over the protest letter to Chief District Officer Dinesh Sagar Bhusal.

UML Rautahat strongly criticized the move, labeling it as "illegal, prejudiced, and vindictive." A statement issued by the committee reiterated the demand for an impartial investigation into the damage to public property and subsequent incidents during the demonstration on Bhadra 23, 2082 BS.

Furthermore, UML stated the necessity for an impartial investigation into the incidents of vandalism, attacks on public and private property, looting, and arson carried out by infiltrators during the demonstration on Bhadra 24.

The protest letter mentioned the creation of an atmosphere of insecurity and threats against media outlets and journalists nationwide, expressing dissatisfaction with the report by the Gauribahadur Karki Commission, which was prepared while ignoring this situation. UML also accused the Council of Ministers of proceeding with retaliatory action without studying the report.

UML Rautahat affirmed its constant commitment to democracy, the rule of law, and the rule of conduct, terming the arrest of Oli and Lekhak as "political vendetta." A warning was also issued that such actions would push the country towards conflict.

The committee demanded the immediate release of both leaders and urged the government to prevent the country from heading towards potential confrontation. It also called upon leaders, cadres, supporters, and justice-loving citizens to unite against such actions. Central Committee member Gupta was present during the event, along with Central Committee member Kundan Kushwaha, former MP Netri Rekha Jha, District Chairman Sachidanand Sah, Vice Chairman Rupesh Patel, Anil Kumar Jha, and others.
