CPN-UML Protests Arrest of Former PM Oli and Leader Lekhak in Dhangadhi

Dhangadhi. CPN-UML staged a protest in Dhangadhi against the arrest of CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Nepali Congress leader and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.

Claiming that they were arrested based on political vendetta, CPN-UML Kailali submitted a protest letter to the government through the District Administration Office, Kailali, on Sunday. Before submitting the protest letter, UML leaders and cadres took out a protest rally chanting slogans in the Dhangadhi market.

Speaking at the protest assembly held at the main gate of the District Administration Office, UML leaders labeled the current government as a puppet government. They accused the government of imprisoning nationalist leaders at the behest of external powers.

While submitting the protest letter, CPN-UML Kailali stated, 'Chairman popular leader KP Sharma Oli must be released immediately without condition and with respect. Otherwise, we will be forced to launch a stronger and decisive movement across the district against this puppet government.'

Protesters chanted slogans such as 'Long Live KP Oli', 'Down with the Puppet Government', and 'Your ways, Tappe, have caused suffering to all'. The Chief District Officer, while receiving the protest letter, committed to immediately forwarding the letter to the concerned bodies.

Security arrangements have been significantly tightened after CPN-UML cadres took to the streets in Kanchanpur and Kailali, as well as all nine districts of the Sudurpaschim Province, to protest the arrest of Chairman Oli. It has been stated that memorandums will be submitted to the Chief District Officers in all districts today.
